Donalsonville Hospital has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in Mammography as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology® (ACR®). Mammography is a specific type of imaging test that uses a low-dose X-ray system to examine breasts. A mammography exam, called a mammogram, is used to aid in the early detection and diagnosis of breast diseases in women.
The ACR Accreditation is considered the gold standard in ensuring that patients receive the highest level of image quality and safety. Accreditation provides our patients with the highest quality imaging services available.

The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting specific requirements based on ACR Practice Parameters and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Key areas that are analyzed to confirm the facility is adhering to the highest possible industry standards:
- Personnel Qualifications
- Equipment Quality
- Image Quality
- Patient Protection
- Facility Equipment Adequacy
- Quality Control Procedures
- Quality Assurance Programs
The findings are reported back to the facility and provide the practice with a comprehensive report that can be used for continuous practice improvement.
“Our ACR re-accreditation is a testament to the quality of care we provide at Donalsonville Hospital,” said April Massey, Assistant Administrator. “From ensuring accurate diagnoses to early detection of breast cancer, we strive to deliver cutting-edge imaging services in a compassionate, patient-centered environment.”
“A successful Mammography ACR Accreditation is evidence of our high standards we maintain in image quality and our commitment to providing quality patient care at Donalsonville Hospital,” said Deidra Harrell, Lead Mammographer. These types of accreditations are very important to our hospital. We strive to provide every patient the best care to aid in accurate diagnoses and early detection.”
