In a heartfelt ceremony held at Donalsonville Hospital on Wednesday, June 19th, the extraordinary dedication and compassion of our nursing staff were celebrated through the DAISY Award ceremony, an accolade recognizing exceptional nurses for their unwavering commitment to providing outstanding patient care. This year, we are proud to announce Myra Davis, RN, as the recipient of the 2024 DAISY Award.
Honoring a Legacy of Compassion
The DAISY Award was established by the Barnes family in 1999, following the passing of Patrick Barnes from the autoimmune disease ITP (Immune Thrombocytopenia). During his eight-week hospitalization, Patrick's family witnessed the profound impact of the nurses’ compassionate care, which not only attended to Patrick’s medical needs but also provided emotional support to his loved ones. In their grief, the Barnes family founded The DAISY Foundation to honor nurses who deliver extraordinary care, turning their sorrow into a mission of gratitude.
